In Algeria, many customers message you on WhatsApp first. Here is how to connect WhatsApp to your website to reply fast and sell more.

In Algeria, customers often start with WhatsApp

Look at how your customers get in touch. Many don't call first: they send a WhatsApp message. "Hi, do you have this model?", "How much is it?", "Do you deliver to Oran?". The customer writes, waits for a reply, then decides.

So your customers are already on an app they open many times a day. That works in your favor. But WhatsApp on its own has limits, just like a Facebook page on its own.

Here we explain why WhatsApp works so well in Algeria, where it falls short, and how to connect it to your website so you can reply quickly and sell more.

Why WhatsApp works so well for Algerian businesses

Most of your customers have WhatsApp on their phone and use it every day with their family. Messaging a shop feels as easy to them as messaging a cousin.

  • Trust: talking to a real person is reassuring before buying.
  • Habit: the customer has nothing to install.
  • Voice notes: many people would rather talk than type a long message.
  • Photos: the customer sends a photo, and you reply with the price or the model.
  • Follow-up: the order, the delivery and any after-sale help all stay in the same chat.

The trap: relying on WhatsApp alone

WhatsApp does part of the job. If it is your only channel, three problems tend to come up.

People can't find you on Google. When a customer types "car parts Algiers" or "caterer Constantine", Google shows websites and Google Business Profiles. A WhatsApp number on its own doesn't appear anywhere.

You repeat the same answers. Prices, hours, models, your address: you type them out all day long, one message at a time.

Messages get lost. Between real customers, people who are just curious and your private chats, a request eventually slips through, and the customer buys elsewhere. For the same problem on social media, read why a Facebook page is not enough.

The fix: your website and WhatsApp, together

You keep WhatsApp. You add a website, and each one does what it does best.

The website shows your offer and reassures people. It presents your products, prices, hours, real reviews and answers to common questions. It is there at night and on weekends, and it makes you visible on Google.

WhatsApp is where the sale gets finished. Once the customer has found what they want on your site, a button lets them message you to wrap it up: confirm the size, give the delivery address, or just say "I'll take it".

How to add WhatsApp to your website

It is simple to set up. The goal is that a customer can message you in one click from any page, without hunting for your number. We use three things:

A click-to-chat button on every page takes the customer straight to you, without hunting for your number.

  • A "Chat on WhatsApp" button: the customer clicks, and a chat with you opens.
  • A wa.me link: an address like wa.me/213xxxxxxxxx that opens WhatsApp on your number. It can include a ready-written message, such as "Hi, I found you on your website".
  • A floating button: a small button that stays visible at the bottom of the screen, on every page.

Use WhatsApp Business (it's free)

There are two apps: WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business. For a business, use WhatsApp Business. It is free, it looks like the app you already know, and it adds tools for selling:

  • The catalog: your products with a photo, name and price, right inside the app.
  • Quick replies: ready-written answers for the questions that keep coming up (price, delivery, hours).
  • Business hours that customers can see.
  • A greeting message, sent automatically when a customer writes for the first time.
  • An away message, sent when you are closed, such as "Thanks, we'll reply as soon as we open".

Stop losing messages

An unanswered message is often a customer who goes to a competitor. A few simple habits help a lot.

Set yourself a reply time, for example one hour during opening hours.

If there are several of you, link your WhatsApp Business account to other devices, such as a computer at the counter. Someone can reply when you are busy.

Write your answers to common questions (prices, sizes, delivery, payment) once and save them as quick replies. The customer gets a clear answer straight away.

Let your website answer the basic questions

To avoid drowning in messages, put everything people keep asking about on your website. WhatsApp is then mostly for finishing the sale.

On a well-built website, show your prices or product ranges, product details, hours, address and a frequently asked questions page. Customers find the answers on their own, at any hour, and message you when they are ready to buy.

Selling lots of products? An online store goes further: the customer picks and orders on their own, with cash on delivery. WhatsApp stays useful for follow-up and questions.

WhatsApp, your Google profile and your website: who does what

These three tools work together:

  • Your website is the base: you own it, and Google can read it.
  • Your Google Business Profile puts you on Maps and in "near me" searches, with buttons to call you or visit your site.
  • WhatsApp is where the sale gets finished: from your site, the customer moves to a chat to complete the order.
  • Local SEO helps you move up in your city, month after month.

Stay professional, from the first message to the sale

How you handle WhatsApp matters too. Customers can tell quickly whether a business is serious.

Use a number just for the business. It keeps work and private life apart, and you can give your team access without sharing your personal number.

Say when you reply, and turn on the away message. The customer knows when to expect an answer and doesn't feel ignored.

Offer several ways to reach you on your website: WhatsApp, phone, a form and your address. Some people like to call, others prefer to write.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need WhatsApp Business, or is regular WhatsApp enough?

Use WhatsApp Business. It is free and looks like the WhatsApp you know, plus a catalog, quick replies, business hours and automatic messages. It saves you time and makes you look more professional.

How do I add a WhatsApp button to my website?

We add a button, often floating at the bottom of the screen, on every page. It uses a wa.me link that opens WhatsApp on your number, with a ready-written message if you like. It is quick to set up on a well-built site.

Should WhatsApp replace my phone number?

No, keep both. Some customers prefer to call, others to write. Show your number and your WhatsApp on your website and let the customer choose.

What if I miss messages at night?

Turn on the away message in WhatsApp Business. It replies automatically outside your hours, for example "Thanks, we'll reply when we open at 9am". In the meantime, your website answers the basic questions.

I already use WhatsApp. Do I still need a website?

Yes. WhatsApp is great for chatting and closing a sale, but a WhatsApp number doesn't show up on Google, and a chat can't show your whole catalog. A website in your name makes you visible and answers the basic questions, and WhatsApp finishes the sale.

Ready to connect WhatsApp to your website?

We add a WhatsApp button to your website, so customers can message you in one click and you can reply faster.
