How to SEO your Joomla website
Before I delve into our Joomla SEO tutorial, let me first congratulate you for choosing Joomla - One of the best content management systems (CMS's) to design your personal, or business website!
In this Joomla SEO tutorial, we will talk a little bit about Joomla, how many sites uses Joomla worldwide, how many Joomla extensions (free/paid) are available that will help you add additional features to your Joomla website, answer the question of whether Joomla is Mobile and SEO friendly, and mention some companies, governments and celebrities using Joomla!
WHY CHOOSE JOOMLA?
We know you could've easily chosen another CMS for your website, such as WordPress, SquareSpace, Wix, and so on, but there are many reasons why Joomla is one of the best CMS - content management system, and here they are:
- Used by millions around the world - About 2.8%
- Joomla has around 9,000 extensions (free and paid)
- Over 50 million downloads and counting
- User and Mobile-friendly
- Companies, governments (about 3293 government websites run Joomla), and celebrities use Joomla - Heathrow Airport, Peugeot, MTV, Barnes & Noble, Mexico City, Government of Greece, United Nations, European Union, World Heal Organization, UK Ministry of Defense, High Court of Australia, Leonardo Di Caprio, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel website, and so on.
Just looking at who is using Joomla should tell you that Joomla is a solid CMS! So if big companies, and governments use Joomla, then you know you won't go wrong with your choice!
The next question we need to answer, and that a new Joomla user might ask before taking the jump and choose Joomla, is ' Is Joomla SEO Friendly?'
Some will tell you, especially WordPress fans, that Joomla is not SEO friendly and would recommend WordPress instead! Their recommendation is actually biased because WordPress might be the only CMS they used and are familiar with.
In our opinion, if you really want to find out whether Joomla is SEO friendly or not, you should get your answer directly from someone that is not only familiar with WordPress, but also with other popular CMSs like Joomla, Drupal, Magento, and so on.
Plus that someone also needs to be SEO savvy because no matter which CMS you choose, it will not be optimized for SEO if your search engine optimization skills, and experience fall short! Read our 'Is Joomla SEO friendly?' section below.
At SimplerWebs, we use all of the above CMSs for our web design services! Don't take us wrong - every CMS we listed above is good at achieving a specific purpose but choosing which one to use for a particular site is quite simple and start with one question (maybe two) - What is the type of your business and what you want to achieve?
Again, we ask the client what is the purpose of the website, what does he/she want the site to do, what features he/she wants to implement, and so on! From there, it is very easy to recommend a CMS to the client!
